Dragon Year

i realized i'm always one day late of events.
well, you can't blame me.

i have to select and then edit the pictures.
by then, the effects of the event have been worn off.

but i do hope the pictures does its justice in bringing the event back to life
:)

so anyway,
yesterday was the official first day of Chinese New Year!
and this day marks the start of the the dragon year!
quite exciting!

祝你
新年快乐
(wish you a happy new year)

身体健康

(enjoy good health)

学习进步

(and progress in studies)

年年有余
(to have abundance of happiness/wealth every year)

as the first day of the new year,
grandma made a traditional sweet desert with ginko nuts and longan.
this symbolizes bringing sweetness  to us in the new year

everyone was wearing new and red clothes.
including my little niece, Nathalie

my cousin playing with my niece

and the maaaaiiinnn event!
red packets!!
ka- ching!
hahahah! joking :P

the entire house was decorated with red ornaments of fish and gold ingots.

the fish is a pun for the word from the phrase "年年有余" (nián nián yǒu yú)
the last word "余" has the same pronunciation as "鱼" (yu) which means fish

the gold ingots represents gold/wealth.

we visited my grandma's sister. :)

which you all

年年有

cheers!
